    Description

Offered here is a working Magnavox model 1220 stereo turntable in good used condition.
Probably dates to the mid to late '70s.
It was part of their "Component Series" and was some of the best that Magnavox had to offer at that time.
The 1220 is a record changer with a tall spindle so up to 6 records can be "stacked". Also included is the 45 adapter for large hole 7" records. The tonearm has adjustments more stylus pressure and andtiskating. See the pics. A new Audio Technica AT3600 cartridge and stylus has been installed. It is a magnetic cartridge so needs to be connected to a phono input with a standard phono preamp. Sounds great!
It has been cleaned and serviced and works very well. It will play through both a stack of LPs or 45s with no problem. This style of changer senses the size
    (7" 10" 12")
of the record being played by bumping the edge of the stack with the side of the tonearm/headshell. It works flawlessly and is fun to watch. The speed of the platter is right on.
Since I don't have a manual for this unit, I had to play with a while it to figure out and get used to the design features.
First, to play a stack of 45s, the ballast arm is not used. The records are stacked on the 45 spindle and will play through without a hitch. Works every time. Second, 78 speed records cannot be stacked and can only be played manually, one at a time.  The ballast arm is used when playing LPs and it will cycle through a stack of with no problem. Works flawlessly.
Cosmetic condition is very good. The dust cover was machine polished to bring it back to life. It isn't perfect, but is a nice clean cover. The base itself shows only minor wear. No cracks or chips. Overall, a great looking vintage changer. If you have any questions, please ask.
